What is FOXROUTE?
FOXROUTE is a powerful yet simple-to-use satellite-based system of location and protection. Totally modular, it can be installed both from the small transport company with a single vehicle and by large companies with hundreds of vehicles, while keeping costs low and in proportion to the number of vehicles.
FOXROUTE is designed for all companies who want to monitor, control and escort their vehicles remotely - and possibly interact with the personnel on board. It doesn't matter whether the corporate fleet is made up of vehicles with similar characteristics and functions or mixed (e.g. cars, vans, heavy vehicles) and/or used to perform different tasks (customer assistance, sales, goods transport etc.)
By having a web browser and a broadband connection, users can check the position of their fleet from anywhere in the world: in the office, at home, while on holiday/business trip… you will see the locations in real time, according to a detection frequency you can set (normally between 10 and 20 secs.) and you can also look at the historic data off-line.
The easy, user-friendly interface is suited also for the less-expert operators.
How does it work?
The simple system is based on two technologies: GPS and GPRS
Satellites orbiting the Earth send position data to on-board receivers, allowing detection of vehicle positions, which are sent to a web-server by a data SIM in the receivers.
FOXROUTE converts the information into a symbol that users, wherever they are (as they only need to have an Internet connection), see moving on their monitors on a highly detailed map.
What do I need to make it work?
Let's look at what we need to get FOXROUTE working for us:
• SATELLITES orbiting the Earth
• ANTENNAS on top of vehicles
• RECEIVERS installed in the vehicles
• SIM Cards in the receiver
• COMPUTERS in the office, at home, home, hotel etc.
• THE INTERNET
As there are by no companies, no matter their size, that don't have a computer and access to the Internet, we can see that, to get started, all we need to buy is a receiver with antenna and SIM Card. So FOXROUTE doesn't need a dedicated server. All the data processing is done by an external Web server: this guarantees service stability and continuous operation. It also ensures the constantly updating of the system, which is always fully transparent and accessible to the customer.
What can I do with FOXROUTE?
There are lots of things you can do with a satellite localisation system: from simply tracking the vehicles around the territory to developing fully fledged platforms for managing all the operational and administrative activities of a big corporate fleet. You can even interact seamlessly with an in-place management system if you have one.
Let us introduce you to just some of its features.
Vehicle localisation
FOXROUTE lets you locate vehicle positions in real time. You happens either when you actively query the system or automatically, when you set frequency intervals for the tracking measurements. Not only. FOXROUTE lets you display the route travelled and check the stops and their duration on the way. You can even define how long you want to consider a stoppage (for example a vehicle stopped at a traffic light should not be considered “stopped or parked”)
Route planning
With FOXROUTE you can plan the routes to take, with automatic tracking of stops and refuellings according to set parameters, both in map- and data format, and search for specific addresses.
Managing the fleet
You can manage registers and documents of vehicles and drivers, maintenance, insurance, vehicle taxes, MOTs etc. for all the fleet, also with alarms to flag up action required.
Print-outs
FOXROUTE provides lots of reports about the daily, weekly and/or monthly activities of your vehicles, drivers' behaviour, chronologies of routes travelled, all SMS messages exchanged between the company office and its vehicles, and the chronology of vehicle maintenance.
Alarms
With FOXROUTE you can set alarms that flag up events: opening of a door, stoppage longer than an allowed time limit, whether a vehicle is moving from the parking area in a not allowed time.
When an anomaly takes place like those mentioned above - or others that the user can configure - you
can also have an e-mail and Short Message Service sent to the company owner, the telephone of a friend, the police etc. The central system is also consistently kept up to date on such values such as the refrigeration unit temperature, vehicle speeds, fuel consumption, etc.
Deliveries management
FOXROUTE can be installed in combination with industrial terminals for collecting data on: service beginning/end, goods loading and unloading, or for managing more miscellaneous activities such as the confirmation of visits, end of mission etc.
Daily activities optimisation
FOXROUTE can let the central system know which vehicle is the closest to a location of need. It can propose the ideal route for cases when there are several trips planned during the day depending on distances, job type, areas of competence, priority etc.
Not only ...
The vehicles' on board receiver can manage up to 4 digital outputs and 2 analogical ones dedicated to the system of Alarms (which for e.g. allows the central system to be notified if a sensor changes his status, a door is opened, a stoppage is prolonged beyond the set time, a “Being Hijacked” message arrives from the driver, the refrigeration unit temperature rises above a certain level etc.).
FOXROUTE has a Software Agent that, with the program switched off and the PC on, can warn the central system with a pop-up window, the sending of an e-mail or text message, to notify that the vehicle is about to enter or leave a certain zone (user-defined) without using any of the above ports.
FOXROUTE lets you identify and save a point on the map and to link a reference to it (the premises of a customer/supplier, a transit/check point, a drop-off/work-site, etc.), and to check the vehicles that pass through that point, the route they took to get there etc.
FOXROUTE lets you the user define an area by using the mouse and be notified if a vehicle enters or leaves it - even by e-mail or SMS.
What do I have to install?
On board
On board each vehicle you want to control, you must install a GPS receiver and a combined GPS-GSM antenna. The receiver will have a normal SIM card for data transmission (if you want to talk with the driver, you can replace the data SIM with a normal voice one)
In the company
In the company, at home or elsewhere, you don't need to install anything. All you need is access to a good connection to the Internet.
Versions available
FX-WEB
The customer uses the service through the internet from any PC connected on-line. This version involves buying the satellite devices and paying an annual rental fee. The advantage of this solution is that the customer doesn't have to think about technical costs or problems: indeed, as all the system's hardware and software is on our server, the customer has no problems of server malfunctions, software upgrades, buying dedicated computers etc. The customer only has to switch on a computer, connect to the internet (from anywhere - also from a hotel or when travelling from a palm device/notebook) and easily track the vehicles as they work.
FX-IN
As well as the satellite devices, customers also buy the application, which is installed on a server on the company's premises. The advantage of this solution obviously accrues in the long term, or could be justified by a large fleet size. It however involves the customer in handling all the costs (financial, operative, maintenance and updating, etc.) typical of on-site installations.

What advantages does a satellite localisation system offer?
We can summarize the main advantages of a fleet activity-monitoring system as:
Reduction of costs: the constant monitoring of stoppages, drivers' behaviour, route optimisation, preventive vehicle-efficiency checking, and on board personnel interaction all allow for a reduction in inefficiencies that are difficult to identify using a simple count of the activities which, at best, is what can normally be provided to the accountant's office. The alarm system offered by FOXROUTE can also allow customers to benefit from discounts off their insurance policies. Many insurance companies indeed grant lower policy rates to clients who have installed satellite tracking systems.
Service improvement: The technologies mentioned here - and the advantages in particular of interaction between central system and vehicles - can provide customers with accurate information about pick-ups and drop-offs (e.g.end customers can be allowed to display where their goods physically are), thereby increasing their satisfaction in the service.
Setting up of specialist platforms:
FOXROUTE can be integrated/linked up to clients' in-place management systems or tailored to specific requirements. In the former case, one example could be when you click an icon corresponding to a given vehicle on the map to see its load-list or the orders status regarding the customer the vehicle is travelling towards.
